Bird sculptures made from recycled metals by Barbara Franc.

So I started my recycled art class today and since I’m the oldest in the class (being 16 in a class of 13yr olds) it’s basically just a studio for me. While they work on their designated projects(today was cupcake stands) I get to make what ever I want. This is the start of a wall hanging. Made (so far) with a shoe box (I cut the corners to make it lie flat) ribbons(Mickey, Minnie, and pink ruffle) the perforated edge of neon colored index cards, pop tabs, plastic beads, and a red jewelry box

greenmindedmom: PICTURE PERFECT
We have heaps of linoleum cardboard rolls which I collected from our hardware store neighbor. As if we don’t have trash of our own! And from these rolls, I am planning to re-create a lot of things. I saw www.dsgnwrld.com and I was inspired to make my own version.

Paper Clip Chandelier | Mosaic Works
Yep, that’s right - paperclips! This is truly one of the coolest DIYs I’ve ever seen. It took over 14,700 paperclips to make this. That is true commitment to a project - I’ve given up over a hour on some projects! There is even a quick guide on how to create your own, though you would of course have to modify for your chandelier. If you try this - good luck! And make sure you share the pics! via: scissorsandthread

Chair and plant box
Today’s project transformed an old sawhorse (found in the alley) into a fern planter. Using scrap wood, paint, and landscape fabric leftover from other projects, we made a box with solid walls and a slatted bottom. The ferns were 1/2 off at homo-depot, so the entire cost of this venture was under $10!

Remember when createartandriot asked me about what to do with roller skates here?:
I have this set of roller skates that my roommate and I found while thrifting and we really want to find a way to decorate with them in our apartment. We just can’t think of a clever way. We were thinking making them into side table lamps or flower pots but neither idea really stuck with us. Ideas? Thoughts?Donatella from inspiration & realisation suggested attaching them to a stool and emailed me the top photo from Curbly - the skateboard wheels book cubby here.
